THE POWER AND CHARM OF SOLAR ENERGY

I expect that if you were suddenly asked to say what you know about solar energy you would most probably say that it has something to do with energy from the sun but would you know to what extent solar energy is used and what percentage of the national power grid it makes up? Millions of people worldwide (and almost certainly tens of thousands within your own country) are using solar energy today as their main source of power. is solar energy just a fad or a pressing alternative to fossil fuels?
Towards the end of last year the North West passage opened up in the Arctic Ocean caused by the partial melting of the ice-cap prior to that event ecology scientists have for decades (and with ever-increasing frenzy)been warning of the detrimental effects of burning fossil fuels and the need to switch to solar energy amongst other alternatives failure to develop and deploy the technology necessary to exploit this natural and practically endless reservoir of solar energy will undoubtedly visit upon the earth the biblical scourges of floods hurricanes droughts forest-fires and many more ills attributable to the widening of the ozone layer.
So how can solar energy help improve (if not reverse) this dire situation? here are a number of ways in which solar energy can positively contribute to a better life on earth: 1 it is "clean" and will not further add to the growing pollution of the environment; 2 the source is widespread and practically endless; 3 it has the potential to be used in all those instances where electricity and other fossil fuels are employed; 4 costs are increasingly affordable; 5 solar energy is “low maintenance” (with virtually nothing to do after the initial capital injection); 6 value is added to your property when solar energy technology is installed; 7 you tend to become more “energy efficient” since your awareness of other energy-saving and energy-renewable sources is stimulated; 8 you begin to feel better and healthier within yourself--since you are now actively doing something to make the planet a “greener and better place”; 9. through adopting the use of solar energy you are helping bequeathe to succeeding generations a cleaner and healthier earth; 10. solar energy is more economical and cheaper in the long-run.
next time you walk down your road therefore, take a good look at the roof-tops and identify the tell-tale signs of solar panels of people already quietly using solar energy. give yourself a pat on the back (and I am assuming that you will have taken the step) for joining that growing band of "earth restorers" rather than "earth destroyers” - and then let your own warming smile transmit that "solar energy" deep from within you so that it might energise another person’ world – and thereby rendering the entire lot of humanity more enriched than might have been the case.
